The beginning of private museology in Türkiye was realized by the "KOCABAS COLLECTION" which was started to collect by Hüseyin Kocabas in 1918. ​

Undoubtly , the foundations of collecting in Türkiye and today's private museums were laid with the Kocabas Collection, recognized by authorities as the best collection in the world in the 20th century.
